A high profile corporate Christmas party – Loyen Loeff

Sushi and champagne at a high profile corporate Christmas party.

What a venue! What a view! Sushi Samba in the Salesforce Tower by Liverpool Street station is not only the best place for sushi in London, it was also the venue for high-end legal firm Loyen Loeff’s Christmas Party – and yours truly were asked to be the official photographers. Our brief was to capture the event, show people mingling, networking and having fun whilst also showing off the venue and the food.

Sushi Samba is spread over three floors, each with its own décor, so we moved around, shooting from up the stairs down onto people below, between pillars, through the bar, across the room, trying to capture the chemistry and easy flow of conversation.

The stunning interior design and architecture that the venue is famous for provided the perfect backdrop and we really used this to its full advantage.

The stunning interior design and architecture that the venue is famous for provided the perfect backdrop and we really used this to its full advantage. We’ve observed how, at avenue like this, encased in floor to ceiling windows on the upper levels of a skyscraper, the light changes as the event progresses. It moves from the bright natural light of late afternoon to the deep contrast-heavy blues and oranges of evening, until the venue’s own lighting takes over, framed by London’s spectacular night skyline. This is something which really helps the photos to capture the atmosphere of the event if you know what you’re doing.

A great thing about shooting an end-of-year corporate event is that everyone is in such good spirits, and genuinely having a good time. However, conscious that the shots were going to be used in internal communications, put up in offices and featured in end of year reviews, we made sure to maintain a certain glamour and elegance. The result was fantastic, Loyen Loeffwas pleased, and Sushi Samba itself even used some of them in their own portfolio!
